LapSim

LapSim is a script used by BFR to simulate car performance in a wide range of scenarios seen at competition. It has been developed in-house for about the past decade and continues to have improvements added on by myself and other members of the Vehicle Dynamics subsystem.

Overview

Overall, LapSim predicts how many point a given car will do at a competition by calculating our performance in various events (acceleration, autocross, endurance, and skidpad) and linearly interpolating our score based off the results of top teams. To determine our events results, LapSim generates a "GG diagram" which has a given car's maximum lateral acceleration for a given longitudinal acceleration and vise versa.
